Having some goal…some kedge…in place most of the time is an awfully good idea. I recently found that I did not qualify to row in the Head of the Charles sculling race this fall, and the zip went right out of my workout regimen. I had been steaming along, trying to strengthen my ridiculous "core"…trying to imrove my ancient and flawed rowing technique. And all of a sudden it just didn’t seem to matter. Skipped a couple of days of working out – rare for me – and did not hit it very hard when I did row. So I dug up some other event to worry about (details to follow) and I all whee’d up again. Kedges work. Try to have one in your future all the time.
