There’s a good piece in The Times this morning about feasting. Turns out, the norm for this day is some 4500 calories, heavy on fat. And that that puts a wild strain on your body. A spike in heart attacks and so on…and lots of pounds gained. Sad stuff. But hard to resist, obviously.
Only thought, if you’re going to feast, go heavy – early on – on the least fattening stuff. The veg other than yams and mashed potatoes…even the turkey itself. Don’t tear into the stuffing and gravy and stuff until the less-awful stuff has had time to hit bottom. And keep your filthy muzzle out of the egg nogg. Okay, that’s impossible. So wait to hit the egg nogg until after that pound of celery has been digested a little.
