One of the great pleasures for me in writing The Practical Navigator was creating the two heroines, one of whom is phantasized in this advertisement. (A gifted agency is doing a bunch of ads for us, using quotes from the book. This is one of my very favorite quotes and the pic ture isn’t bad either).

Creating characters out of whole cloth, getting to know them and seeing what they will and will not do is a joy. Not easy but great fun. This one (the Ariadne figure from the Minotaur myth) may be my favorite … trouble though she may be. Do take a look at the book: she’s awfully good (if dangerous)  company.
